Focuses on the basic skills of acting: the ability to effectively communicate, to gain access to the full spectrum of human emotions, and increase spontaneity. Important innovators and theorists in the field of theatre and acting are covered, such as Sanford Meisner, Constantine Stanislavski, Bertolt Brecht, Jerzy Grotowsky, Agusto Boal, and Jacques Lacoq. Additional topics include contemporary plays and playwrights, an historical perspective of the art of acting, and the current state of live theatrical performance. Theatre majors not allowed.
