Negotiating is an essential managerial skill necessary for influencing employees and stakeholders. The course will allow participants the opportunity to develop these skills experientially and to understand negotiation in the context of useful analytical frameworks.

In this course, students will gain an understanding of how best to conduct data analysis experiments utilizing data specific to biotechnology applications. Hands-on exercises involve using computer software programs such as Matlab and JMP. Data input/manipulation, descriptive and inferential statistics, hypothesis testing, curve fitting, and Matlab coding will be covered. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to conduct data analysis experiments within the context of biotech. No credit for students who have taken BIOT 897 "Top/Num & Statistical Analysis".

This course provides a context-specific examination of physical oceanographic phenomena that impact the quality of hydrographic surveys. This includes a review of global scale ocean circulation followed by a particular focus on processes controlling the variability of coastal and continental shelf oceanography. The instruments used, and the available ocean climatological databases are emphasized. The course is designed to meet the oceanography requirement for the Category A FIG/IHO/ICA Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors.
