Additional Course Details:

Over the course of this term, we will examine the topics of the paranormal and supernatural to gain a deeper understanding about how to research and describe a topic using reliable sources from multiple disciplines. The lenses we’ll use include (but are not limited to) sociology, art, history, psychology, literary studies, physics, philosophy, economics, and media studies. We will start by examining the concept of interdisciplinary studies before we explore the topic of the paranormal and supernatural. While you may have personal beliefs about the topics we’ll explore, this course provides a variety of readings and resources that you will learn how to evaluate, paraphrase, compare and contrast, and critically analyze. We suggest you stay open-minded and suspend your personal beliefs as we explore how different disciplines approach the topic through research-based academic writing.
