Influencers and the Law: Name, Image and Likeness and the Right of Publicity

  

This course teaches students about legal issues involved in influencing, meaning acts intended to affect other people's thinking in a social online community. Social media influencers can hold substantial suasion over consumers. Those influencers range in age from children to senior citizens and include professional athletes, college athletes, entertainers and other figures who develop sizable followings online. The course covers recent legislative and regulatory developments in social media law and delves into the business of the field. Students gain insights and practice skills to work in this field as part of a broader practice in IP, sports and entertainment law.
