Revenue management has become an increasing popular subject in hospitality management programs.  This course is designed for hospitality and business students who are interested in learning more about formulating tactics and strategies to maximize revenues for their organizations. Students will apply this knowledge in a simulated hotel environment and take the exam to receive the designation of Certified Hotel Industry Analyst (CHIA).This course presents the principles of organization, management and decision models applied to the tasks and challenges of hospitality operations. Involves techniques of problem solving (including planning, organizing, staffing, communication, directing and controlling operations). Topics include: hospitality systems thinking-service design; service product lifecycle evolution and development; hospitality organizational structure and service system procedures; integrated hospitality operational diagnostics; and operational performance metrics.
Students will analyze various types of hotel industry data and make strategic inferences based upon that analysis and based on a comprehensive understanding of benchmarking and performance reports.
