Language & Identity in Spanish - This class aims to offer a sustained exploration of the multiple and complex relationships between language, identity and society. "Language" is understood as oral and written expression, a system of verbal and non-verbal signs, that exist in a state of variation. "Identity" is understoon as a dynamic process rather than a stable attribute. Our investigations will have an interseccional perspective and will be focused on the construction and negotiation of sex, gender, and sexuality through language and performance, with the Spanish language as a case study.
