America in the 20th Century

What made the Roaring Twenties “roaring”? Why did the Great Depression occur, and what ended it? How did the president of the United States come to be considered the “leader of the free world”? We will answer all of these questions as we examine America’s social, political, and cultural history during the 20th century, as well as its place in wider world events. We will discuss major events and figures, including social movements and their leaders, prominent political figures, government policies and how they affected “ordinary” Americans, conflicts, and more.
