Identification, pathogenesis, epidemiology, treatment, and prevention of medically important microorganisms. The biology of clinically relevant bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites is presented in relation to disease progress and host defense mechanisms. Clinical correlations that indicate microbes are causative agents of disease are emphasized.
