How do grassroots movements use education to resist colonial/colonizing agendas? What role foes education play in promoting democracy, and social and economic equality?

An examination of the human and institutional relationships among education, poverty, and social development. This course will emphasize the ways in which access to universal, effective education is correlated with the incidence of childhood poverty and its reduction in the US and selected countries in the developing world.
