Additional Course Details: 

This course provides students with an overview of the key components of educational interpreting including laws, certification, school organization, child development and language acquisition in children. In addition, responsibilities, roles and ethics of interpreting as a team member in the school environment are examined. Special focus is on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).

Additional Course Details: 

In this special topic course, students will analyze four types in English: a patriotic song, prayers, a famous speech, and a popular contemporary song. These texts will be analyzed for their historical and cultural contexts, allusions, and presuppositions. Prosody (i.e. rhythm, mood, and tone) will also be considered before translating them into ASL. The course will culminate with a quality rendition of the final translations to be presented to a small audience that will be invited to the class for the presentation of the translations.   Prerequisites  ASL III
