Seminar for graduate students. Topics may include: A) Drugs and Chemical Dependency; B) Intimate Partner Violence C) Social Action in Education Settings D) Social Action in the Dominican Republic. May be repeated for different topics.
Section Comments: Social Work in the Military The aim of this course is to introduce students to military and veteran culture, particularly as it pertains to meeting the clinical needs of this population. Students will identify both strengths and challenges faced by active duty and reserve military service personnel, military family members, and veterans. Main topics of the course will include military lifestyle, values, and rank structure; the deployment cycle; reintegration after service; and physical and mental health impacts of service. The course will also explore systems of care available for service members and veterans and the role of social workers within these systems.
