B-side of the Music Industry
B-side of the Music Industry pulls back the curtain and allows you to experience the often-unseen business side of Music. You’ll gain a better understanding of the roles, costs, planning, timelines, as well as the work and struggles that go into this type of product launch. Student teams start by understanding specific roles within the industry and how they come together to shape a launch—bringing their artist/project to life for public consumption.
Teams will work with an independent artist/band through an initial investor proposal and examine the transition of that artist from Visual to Show performance. In the next phase, teams take that into creating an "Album" release/product launch proposal. Students are challenged to plan out costs, timelines, and strategy for elements of the launch such as studio production, marketing/publicity, booking/touring, and talent management of the artist/band.
