Media technologies shape the experience of human mobility. They move text, image, sound, voice and data over vast distances so that we can connect with people and places both real and imagined. Today’s smartphones and mobile devices have further extended our mediated mobility and created new pathways for social connection and geographic exploration. This course examines the mobility of old and new media in all its senses. A variety of apps, tools and methods will be used to understand and visualize how media technologies have changed our landscape, reorganized our senses, and reconfigured our perceptions of place and space.
