Additional Course Details:

How can chemistry and biotechnology drive sustainable innovation? This course explores green chemistry and engineering principles with applications in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and environmental science, while also addressing resource efficiency, renewable materials, and sustainable industrial practices. Students will learn sustainability metrics, assess safer alternatives, and engage with leading scholars, scientists, and industry pioneers shaping the field. Through case studies, primary research, and direct interaction with experts, students will explore innovations in energy-efficient chemical processes, sustainable materials, and next-generation manufacturing. The course culminates in independent research projects, where students investigate a green chemistry challenge and propose innovative solutions. With a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry & Engineering, this course prepares students to be leaders in sustainable science and technology.
