Lean Process Improvement

Organizations depend on robust processes to effectively carry out operations in a manner that is lean and dynamic, while facing competitive business demands to evolve these processes. This course provides an in-depth exploration of lean process improvement methodologies designed to optimize business and manufacturing workflows. Student teams learn to apply tools/skills such as Value Stream Mapping and Relentless Root Cause Analysis to visualize processes, identify areas of waste, and evaluate why process steps are breaking down or are ineffective.

Student teams will work with small business clients/business case scenarios to examine current processes gaps, analyze areas for improvement, determine how to streamline and remove areas of waste, and modify processes to ensure greater success. Utilizing analytical, critical-thinking, and collaboration skills, the teams will apply current industry methods and tools to design a process improvement plan to address their clients’ needs and industries.

*There will be occasional classes on Teams.  These dates will be provided on the syllabus.
