Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art that originated in the 20th century. Practitioners use dynamic throwing and pinning techniques that minimize an aggressor's power, regardless of an attacker's advantage in size or strength. While the techniques emphasize self-defense, the approach has benefits for mindfulness, conflict management, and stress reduction. Safety and mutual respect are paramount. We also believe that practice and learning should be fun!
