Additional Course Details:

This course is designed to provide students with an interprofessional experience with a collaborative approach to optimize the health, behavioral health and quality of life of older adults and will culminate in a hands-on learning experience linked to UNH’s Age of Champions Health and Wellness Fair. The course will cover what it means to engage in healthy, active aging and introduce students to a range of digital health innovations that can support healthy, active aging. This structure of the course will allow students to apply what is learned in the course in real life scenarios with their peers from other disciplines. In the field of healthcare, health professionals collaborate with one another to meet the goals of the client. Exposure to interdisciplinary experiences is an important aspect of any health profession. Additionally, students will be exposed to cutting edge research, interventions, technologies, and community agencies involved in the field of aging. By the end of this course, students will learn about healthy aging systems, aging in place, community services and resources for older adults, participate in a virtual reality (VR) simulation with an older adult client.

The VR SIM will be on May 10th for about 45 minutes. The Age of Champions event will likely be on April 20th from 10 - 1 pm. If students cannot make either or both of these in person events, you will be assigned an alternative project.
