Environmental Flows & Ecohydraulics (3 cr.)
This course will explore graduate-level topics in environmental fluid mechanics and ecohydraulics, including flow instability, turbulence, flow through aquatic ecosystems, and density-driven flows in the environment. Course will include group reading and discussion of papers, and a term project where students conduct experiments or implement simple models to study environmental flow phenomena, with application to their own research.
Prerequisite: OE 7/853 (Ocean Hydrodynamics), ME 7/807 (Analytical Fluid Dynamics), or similar intermediate/graduate-level fluid mechanics course.
