In this course, student will learn about overviews, issues, and trends in the modern supply chain and logistics field. As a class we will approach learning about supply chains through the lens of products/industries that consumers interact with daily and explore how these products’ supply chains can be affected by disruptions.
The class will work in six teams, each follow their product category through the supply chain. Along the way, each group will learn and share the nuances and complexities for each product type by using information resources and data. The course will invite professionals to help increase practical understanding of key areas of the supply chain (sourcing, demand, inventory, warehousing, transportation, and optimization) to help increase student understanding and expose them to career paths in the field. Finally, through the course students will learn how data and information play an important role in supply chain and the daily lives of professionals in the field.
