Special topics courses explore emerging developments in the law or take advantage of special expertise provided by visitors and guest faculty. Courses offered under this title are approved by the Associate Dean and may be designated to meet skills or advanced writing requirements. Special topics classes may only satisfy elective credit and are available only to law students after their first year of study and graduate students by permission.

Life sciences is one of the fastest growing areas of new technology, and Boston is a hub for the biotech industry. This cutting-edge field is changing the world in a variety of ways, from reducing the spread of infectious disease through genetics to cutting greenhouse gas emissions with biofuels. Intellectual property rights are essential to the survival of life science companies. This course provides an overview of key IP law issues, including distinct nuances for the life science industry. Class participants will interact with a variety of players working at the intersection of IP and biotech, including industry leaders and lawyers in private practice.
Hybrid Immersion Course August 2022 - Attendance required.
