Additional Course Details:

This course covers geophysical fluid dynamics (GFD) at the scales relevant to the ocean and atmosphere of the Earth and other rapidly rotating planets.  Attention will be paid both to flows on global scales and in coastal oceans. The course will introduce scaling and asymptotic methods in PDEs. The pre-requisites are partial differential equations or at least advanced ODEs. Fluid dynamics and oceanography or dynamic meteorology would be helpful.

Time is by arrangement; please contact the professor upon registration to schedule the class.
