Welcome to History 425! This course introduces you to the cultures and civilizations of the Islamic world. It teaches you how to understand the rise of Islam and the associated geographies, artifacts, and nation states associated with the Islamic world. We will study the rise of Egypt, Turkey and Persia through a selection of historical novels, poetry and graphic novels. In our final unit we will address questions about the role of Islam in the contemporary world.Welcome to History 425!
