FOREIGN RELATIONS: From Revolting Colonies to Reluctant Great Power

This course examines the evolution of United States Foreign Policy from the American Revolution to the eve of the First World War.  Particular attention will be paid to competing ideas about the US role in the world, debates about territorial expansion, and the desire for expanded markets for US goods.
