Thoughtful people cannot help escape considering hard questions about our relationship to the natural world and what it means for the future of life on earth. This semester, Environmental Ethics will focus on the ethical issues raised by climate change. The issues we will discuss include why climate change poses a unique ethical challenge, whether we have ethical obligations to future generations, whether the costs and benefits of climate change are unjustly distributed, and if the obligations fall on individuals or if systemic changes are required.
