This course presents important writers, poets, playwrights, and thinkers active between the period known as La Belle Epoque and the present. Focusing on the long lasting impact of historical ruptures on artistic production, it focuses on topics such as surrealism, social realism, the absurd, negritude, existentialism the new wave, the new novel, and feminism. Prereq: FREN 651 and FREN 652. May be repeated for credit, barring duplication of materials. (Not offered every year).
