An examination of the human and institutional relationships among education, poverty, and social development. This course will emphasize the ways in which access to universal, effective education is correlated with the incidence of childhood poverty and its reduction in the US and selected countries in the developed and developing world. Interactive, discussion-based classes. Prior coursework in social or political sciences, economics, international affairs, health sciences, or related fields suggested. Not open to freshmen.
