Our system of higher education has tremendous impact on the social, political, and knowledge issues of our society. Knowledge of how, why, and what parameters impact the work of colleges and universities is critical to understanding the institutions of higher education. The role of law is important and pervasive in society and is also of importance in higher education. This course focuses on the law of higher education and how it structures and impacts students. It will explore such topics as student free speech, tort liability, due process, and equal protection.
